When you think about runway hair and makeup looks, what words come to mind?

Over-the-top? Avant guard? Wacky? Inspirational? Impossible-to-pull-off? Scary?

It's OK, you can admit that you don't find them wearable, pretty or feminine -- we won't tell the fashionistas.

But before you go and totally write off the runway as a source of inspiration for looks that are ones you can create without looking like a drag queen, we'd like to share these hair and makeup photos with you. All of these beauty looks were seen on the Fall 2011 Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week catwalks. Yup, it's true.

See the high fashion hair and makeup looks you can actually wear now.

So many of the looks we saw were not only gorgeous, but also ones we knew we'd be able to recreate without having to seriously water them down. What's even better? We wouldn't need a backpack full of products to create them, either.

From sexy smoky eyes, to pretty twisted updos, we gathered up all of the prettiest and most wearable looks from the runways to bring them to you. Some of the looks are perfect for evening while others are suitable for every day. Check them out and then learn step-by-step how to copy them -- exactly. Your friends will be so impressed (maybe even a little intimidated) when they compliment you on your fabulous hair or makeup -- especially when you tell them the look was seen on the runway.

The look: A nearly bare face paired with stand out red lips

How to get it:
Step 1: Even out your skin tone with your favorite foundation. Looking for a new one? Consult this list of thebest foundations according to our editors. Camouflage dark circles or spots with concealer and set with powder, which MAC artist Nadine Luke says will make your makeup look flawless for an extended amount of time along with locking everything in place.

Step 2: Sweep a flesh-colored eyeshadow on your lids and finish off your eyes by applying a coat of black mascara.

Step 3: Using a lip brush, apply a matte red lipstick (find the best red lip makeup for your skin tone here). Blot your lips after applying the first coat, and then apply a second for long lasting wear.

I'll post somemore later

Natural Looking Makeup

Natural Looking Makeup!

    • Determine your skin type and cleanse, tone and moisturize with suitable products twice daily. If you have skin problems like spots/blackheads, exfoliate your skin.
  1. 2
    Moisturize.
     Moisturize.
Moisturize. Using a small dab the size of a pea, gently rub in an unscented, oil free lotion. Scented lotions can aggravate skin and cause breakouts or an allergic reaction, and oily lotions will increase acne.
  2. 3
Determine your right color of foundation.
Determine your right color of foundation.
Determine your right color of foundation. Get in a natural light and test the foundation to make sure it's the right color for your skin. Dab a few marks on your cheek and angle your face different ways to see if the color matches. Make sure to go underneath your jaw line—if you stop that edge of your face there will be a clear line where the foundation stops.
    • Take your finger or a sponge dab in the foundation, and dab it on your face, blending it until it looks like your skin tone.

Tinted moisturizer is better for a more natural look, it blends in while evening out your skin tone. It commonly has SPF, and it moisturizes. Those with clearer skin will look best with this.

Use concealer on dark or red spots.
Use concealer on dark or red spots.
Use concealer on dark or red spots. Make sure this is the EXACT same color as your skin. When you apply the concealer, do so directly on the spot and not around it. This is to avoid a halo effect and emphasis of the spot. Optionally set with beige powder. Be careful not to overdo it on the concealer—you only need enough to cover the spot.
  4. 5
Use two shades of eyeshadow for a professional look.
Use two shades of eyeshadow for a professional look.
Use two shades of eyeshadow for a professional look. The colours you choose should be golds, browns or silvers, depending on your skin tone and colouring. Apply a light, neutral tone all over your lid and just above your crease, and use slightly darker to softly line the top lid and outline your crease. For a natural look, remember to blend the colours.
  5. 6
Alternatively, use lighter colours on the inner parts of your eyes and darker tones on the outside.

    * Alternatively, use lighter colours on the inner parts of your eyes and darker tones on the outside. Put white eyeshadow or eyeliner on the inside corner of your eyes to make them look wider and brighter.
  6. 7
Line your eyes with a roasted-colored pencil liner.
Line your eyes with a roasted-colored pencil liner.
Line your eyes with a roasted-colored pencil liner. Pencil looks more natural than liquid or gel liner and it is easier to blend. Line two thirds of your top lashline and one third of your bottom lashline. Smudge the line with a cotton bud.
  7. 8
    Curl your eyelashes.

  8. 9
Apply one coat of brown or soft black (for darker skin) mascara.

Apply one coat of brown or soft black (for darker skin) mascara. If you are satisfied with your results in the previous step, you may skip this one.
  9. 10
    Apply Bronzer.
     Apply Bronzer.
Apply Bronzer. Bronzer is a great way to make it look like you have a natural glow. Lightly brush bronzer all over your face, or just along your cheekbones and T-Zone for a natural suntan appearance. However, bronzer can look silly on people with pale skin if you apply it incorrectly. Practice at home with bronzer to see if it looks good on you before going out with it on. If you don't like the way it looks, skip this step.
  10. 11
    Apply Blush.
     Apply Blush.
Apply Blush. If you were not happy with bronzer, you can apply blush instead. Creme blush generally works better than powder because it gives you a dewy look and lasts longer. Using a champagne-tinted creme blush, rub a little on your ring finger and blend onto your cheekbones.Note that you should not apply blush and bronzer—choose one.
  11. 12
    Apply a neutral lip color.
     Apply a neutral lip color.
Apply a neutral lip color. Avoid using chalky lipsticks or shiny lip glosses. Lip stain is generally best because it looks natural and lasts all day. Use a color that's close to your natural lip color.
